Turhan Von Brandon

Began formal art studies at the age of eight at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, NY, studied art and photography while attending Howard University in Washington, DC. Continued the study of photography and print making in Wurzburg, Germany (US Army). Studied Commercial Photography at the New York Institute of Photography in New York City.

I try to create images that draw the viewer in, begins a dialog, or asks a visual question. You will either like, dislike, or question my images. The images that I create are only half the story. The viewer completes the story by what the viewer brings to the image. I am now creating paintings by converting photographs to abstract impressionistic and/or expressionist images.

Has exhibited art and/or photography in Wurzburg, Washington, the Art On Main Street, The Art Barn, The Gallery At St. Cabrini, Yonkers Piblic Library, the Rye Public Library, Eastchester Public Library, New Rochelle Public Library, Yonkers Friends Of The Arts, Westchester Land Trust, the Upstream Gallery, the Westchester Arts Council, Hudson Valley Hospital Center, The Blue Door Art Association, Evolution Arts Exhibition,The Blue Door Gallery, Yonkers Arts Fest, and the Greenburg Nature Center. Has also participated in the production of the historical photographic book "Yonkers: Then & Now".

Have received Best of Show, First, Second, & Third Place Awards with the Westchester Professional Photographers Association quarterly print competitions; Blue Ribbons and Gold Distinguished Print Ribbons with the Professional Photographers Society of New York's annual print competition; and Blue Ribbons with the Professional Photographers of America's international print competition.
